A deadly swamp-born virus is striking people down in a small Louisana town, and Abby Arcane comes to investigate. She soon discovers that there is more to it than just a contagion. There are mystical, terrifying secrets to uncover. While unexplainable, chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.
Based on the DC characters originally written and drawn by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Swamp Thing made its first appearance in House of Secrets #92 in 1971. Since then, the anti-hero has made slimy green waves in four DC Comics series (the last one in 2004). He has also been the subject of two feature films, a life action television series, and an animated mini-series.
This new film is an origin story, told from the point of view of the people whose lives Swamp Thing affects rather than from a first person perspective.
A new original series #DCUSWAMPTHING premieres May 31. New episodes weekly, only on #DCUniverse. The Swamp Thing himself will be played by Derek Mears with Andy Bean playing his human form of Alec Holland in the television series for DC Universe.
