Video of the Day: Elli Jelly’s “Ariel the Zombie Slayer”

Everything is better with zombies. 2016 gave us Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and if you’re into zombies, it was awesome.

Today’s video is off our usual beaten path of finding neat stuff on YouTube or Vimeo and showing it to you, because apparently the only place this video appears is on the personal page of Elli Jelly, a deeply fannish singer and performer from (we think) the northeastern United States.

In this video, she performs her Ariel the Zombie Slayer, based on a conversation on Reddit. The lyrics are from Redditor Atlas_Mech. Elli changed a word or two to make the lyrics rhyme and flow better. Here is the result.

Ariel the Zombie Slayer

I wasn’t planning to play tonight, but because Justin Lipner and Nichole Charlton actually called me and explicitly requested this from me, I put together a quick and dirty rendition. 100% of the credit for the lyrics goes to redditor Atlas_Mech (I only changed a couple words to rhyme/flow better). Original thread and lyrics here: http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/2c1rt4/if_the_zombie_apocalypse_breaks_out_and_you_are/cjb8pjq Others of you that might be particularly interested: Jessica Calvello, Paul Hollifield, Zachary Glaze, Debbie Yee, and more….

If the Krypton Radio stream is playing, you’ll probably want to pause it while you watch this. Use the controller at the upper right, or if you’re on a cell phone, the bottom of the page. We realize this is a bit clumsy, but we’re working on a fix for this.

Elli is a fine performer, with an amazing voice and a truly twisted sense of humor. If Tank Girl masqueraded as a normally shy, unassuming representative of mundane society but secretly planned the overthrow of a zombie empire, that would be Elli.

We hope you enjoy this remarkable bit of music, and you can hear it – and another song, the horror version of Jolene – on the SCIFI.radio play list as part of our permanent library.
