Sometimes things just happen. We have recently learned that Star Wars: The Last Jedi actress Kelly Marie Tran has finally had enough of all the bullying and racist attacks on every one of her social media accounts, and has decided to completely withdraw from social media. All of it. She deleted her Instagram posts, her Facebook posts, her Twitter posts, all of it.
On the morning of June 6, our morning DJ Shawn “Obi-Shawn” Crosby was having technical difficulties that prevented him from playing any music for his two hour music program, Good Morning, Tatooine! Instead of taking the day off, though, he decided to speak to our listeners about what had happened with Kelly Marie Tran and the nonstop attacks on the internet, and how it has affected Star Wars fandom for the worse.
We had the good fortune to have had a show recorder running during his broadcast. Presented for Episode 199 of The Event Horizon is that monolog. It’s powerful, persuasive, and moving, and gets right to the heart of the matter.
Episode 199 will air at the following days and times:
Saturday | 4 pm PT / 7 midnight ET | Thursday 4 am PT / 7 am ET
Sunday | 4 pm PT / 7 pm ET | Saturday 4 am PT / 7 am ET
When all the air times have passed, you can download the episode on Stitcher or iTunes as a podcast, or you can get them from our own web site on the Event Horizon show page.
