The pair has also been signed by Harper Perennial, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, to put together new script books of seasons 3 and 4 of the podcast. The companion volumes feature guest introductions by the authors and cast members and original illustrations by series artist Jessica Hayworth.
“We’ve never met anyone in the industry who understands our world and approach to storytelling better than Gennifer does,” said Fink and Cranor. “We are lucky to be working with her, as well as FX – a network with a long history of creating excellent television.”
Welcome to Night Vale is released twice a month, and presents itself as community updates on the radio station of a small desert town. It features local news, announcements from the Sheriff’s Secret Police, an all powerful glow cloud, a group of angels who live in somebody’s living room and won’t leave, a civilization of mole people who access the surface world through a pit that opened up in the local bowling alley, and weather reports that turn out to be not wearther, but musical interludes from selected artists Fink and Cranor happen to like.
Since its creation in 2012, the show quickly became an underground success and, to date, has been downloaded more than 180 million times worldwide. Welcome to Night Vale has also become a touring live show, performing in 16 countries and 35 U.S. states.
There is currently no scheduled debut date, nor is there yet an IMDB page for the show.
With the news of Disney’s possible purchase of much of 20th Century Fox making the rounds, it occurs to us that FX is owned by Fox, and if Disney buys Fox then they may get FX in the bargain – and if that happens, the Faceless Woman Who Lives In Your House might qualify as a Disney Princess.
But she’d have to be royalty first, and a spinster.
And you just never know.
Or possibly, you do know. And you have been wondering why she was Faceless this entire time. And this has all been the terrible secret you’ve been suppressing from your conscious memory all these years. Shame. Shame on you for supressing this memory of the Dowager Princess.
