One Epic Battle: Darth Vader vs Buzz Lightyear

Here’s a nice little fan film for you to enjoy. It’s from YouTuber Nukazooka, whose Super Mario: Underworld video we showcased a few months back. This video features a battle between Darth Vader, Sith Lord, and Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. It seems slightly possible, since both characters are owned by Disney.

In the story, Darth Vader is doing Sith Lordy type stuff when he runs across Buzz Lightyear’s crashed ship. Buzz mistakes Vader for his arch nemesis Emperor Zurg, and the battle begins. Everything you know about the characters is in this film – Vader’s Force Chokes, Buzz’s lasers, his arm being detachable. There’s plenty of verbal humor as well, such as Vader attempting to say “You don’t know the power of the Dark Side” after his chest plate has been hit.

The costumes are very well done, and the special effects are top notch. The musical score also adds to the fun. The run time is only four minutes, but we can’t help but wonder if the filmmakers will do a follow up.

While there is no Star Wars type project coming from Pixar, despite rumors that it’s been discussed, this may be as close as we’ll ever get to it. Even the ending has you thinking that this might be taking place in Andy’s bedroom. I was half expecting Mr. Potato Head to make an appearance.

The cast and crew of this project includes Chase Rackley as Darth Vader and Derek Duncan as Buzz Lightyear. Stefan Smith composed the music. Andrew McMurry was the creator of the short, as well as the director and provided the awesome special effects.
