With the premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story rapidly approaching, stars from the movie along with others from film, fashion, music, and sports, have banded together to help support UNICEF Kid Power. The partnership between Disney, Target, and Star Wars: Force for Change is bringing a new line of T-shirts based on the Rogue One story line, that will be available exclusively at U.S. Target locations starting on November 27th.
The movie’s theme is centred around a group of rebels – ordinary people – who chose to go into the realm of the extraordinary, becoming part of something much larger than themselves. The new Force 4 Fashion T-shirt designs come with designs meant to show the importance of standing up for what you believe in.
With every T-shirt that sells, $5 will be donated to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, supporting the UNICEF Kid Power program. The Kid Power program allows kids to do physical activities and interactive challenges with the free UNICEF Kid Power smartphone app. For every activity they complete, they earn points which in turn provide food for malnourished children world-wide. The Kid Power website states that after joining the program: “the more you move, the more points you earn, the more lives you save.”
Riz Ahmed, June Ambrose, Steve Aoki, Camilla Belle, Gareth Edwards, Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Olivia Munn, Kelly Slater, and Brittany Snow were involved in developing the Force for Fashion line, and have all supported many different causes throughout their careers. The release of the T-shirts comes just before “Giving Tuesday” on November 29th, when fans can share their own inspirational stories on social media with the hashtag #ForceForChange.
The UNICEF Kid Power program launched in 2014, and as of this writing has over 192,000 “team members”, earning almost 13 million points between them, and unlocking 5.2 million food packets! Star Wars: Force for Change partnered with UNICEF Kid Power in May of 2015, and they are still one of the presenting sponsors of this amazing program, along with Target.
