Bob Kane Gets A Star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame

The cover of Detective Comics , which marked the first appearance of Batman in 1939.

Comic book artists are noteworthy in at least one additional respect, apart from making magic with pencils – they do not commonly get stars on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. The late Bob Kane, famed co-creator of Batman, is about to break with tradition.

The ceremony will take place on October 21, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. PST and will feature both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice filmmaker Zack Snyder and DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee as guest speakers, as well as the Batmobile from the new film.

The Star will be placed in front of the Guinness World Record Museum, and for good reason – the Batman franchise, begun in May of 1939 with the publication of Detective Comics ,  is also being awarded the Guinness World Records™ title for most film adaptations of a comic book character.

If you live in or around Los Angeles and want to go, you should know that there will be unique giveaways for fans in attendance, and that costumes are encouraged, especially Batman costumes.

The whole thing will take place at 6764 Hollywood Blvd. in front of the Guinness World Record Museum. If you live outside of Los Angeles or can’t make the trip, the entire ceremony will also be live-streamed on www.walkoffame.com. Check out the site for more details.

Now then: where is Bill Finger’s Star?
