Dark Horse Takes Us Back To A Galaxy Far, Far Away With ‘Star Wars #1’

Alex Ross does the honors in this stunning cover art for Dark Horse Comics ‘Star Wars ’.

Dark Horse Comics’ long-awaited and simply-titled Star Wars has finally arrived on comic shelves and takes Star Wars fans back to the beginning. Dark Horse has had the license to tell Star Wars tales for over 20 years. But as almost any reader would tell you, those stories always seemed to be aimed at the die-hard fan who has read every issue of every series and knows the Expanded Universe by heart. Star Wars seeks to change that by being accessible to those casual fans – the fans who “just like the movies”.

The premise is simple. It’s been mere weeks since the Rebels destroyed the Death Star at Yavin and our heroes are in desperate need of a new base. And the reader is pulled in from there – and series writer Brian Wood takes the characters back to the beginning as well, giving readers looks at Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie that they’ve either forgotten or not known. No reboots or retconning, but definite character development and evolution, Dark Horse promises.

Hardcore fan or casual, Star Wars promises to bring back the magic of a galaxy far, far away.
