Earth suffers a temporary glitch in the space-time continuum, creating sentiant walruses who understand us all too well even though they smell really bad who tend to stutter under pressure when confronted by the army, navy, air force, space force and/or marines , but scientists create a new weapon which does not work but they die from catching the common cold.
