If you have an event to advertise, it should be something of interest to the sci-fi/fantasy community, and you’ll want to start running your ads at least three months in advance. Running “buy this now” ads aren’t as likely to succeed, because advertising on radio is more like slow cooking in an InstaPot than tossing steaks in the broiler. We suggest putting in little discount codes exclusive to your radio ad so that you can track the results and get a better sense of how it’s working out for you. You don’t have to do that. Many of our advertisers don’t bother with that, since radio spots on SCIFI.radio are unbelievably inexpensive.

Remember that a single play of a radio spot on SCIFI.radio can cost as little as $0.08 USD, and that that works out to a cost per thousand (CPM) of $4.  This is a tiny, tiny fraction of what a terrestrial station would cost, and though our audience is obviously smaller, we offer a sharply focused audience who genuinely want to be here. Additionally, A radio advertisement cannot be used as a bookmark and forgotten about, and because our streaming performance is in real time, nor can the listener fast forward through it like they do with television commercials.

If all you’re after is radio advertising, you might want to consider becoming a patreon of the station instead. It’s actually a bargain for radio advertisers, but it’s a subscriber situation, in that you’ll be paying each month. That said, patrons at the “Star Trader” tier get a free 30-60 second spot played at the top of every hour, plus a station logo sticker, a coffee mug, and a logo t-shirt after three months of support. Why just advertise when you can get some free swag too?
