With The Mandalorian and Grogu just a couple of weeks away now, Lucasfilm and Disney are mining the film’s explosive opening action sequence for all its worth. The substantial chunk of the new Star Wars motion picture is a four minute cut of the original 20 minute scene shows to fans at CinemaCon last month, and they’re showing that one to fans at special IMAX teaser screenings for Star Wars Day. If you have a Disney+ subscription, you can watch it yourself. that is. It’s the home of The Mandalorian, after all!
Titled The Mandalorian and Grogu: A Special Look, the near-four-minute clip is viewable from the homepage of Disney+ today and offers a condensed highlights reel of the film’s opening sequence, following Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young ward Grogu as they battle Imperial Remnant forces on an ice world.
Those of us with our noses pressed against the glass can still enjoy a little Mando and Grogu goodness, with this new clip released directly by Lucasfilm on YouTube. It’s the “Generations” clip, and it’s about a minute long
It’s a pretty interesting way to get people intrigued, especially with Lucasfilm and Disney focusing a lot of the final stretch of the film’s marketing on this broader sequence. We only have a bit over two weeks to wait to see what promises to be one of the best installments in the Star Wars saga in years. The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters May 22.
