Join host Gene Turnbow on February 28, 2026 at 4 pm Pacific Time when we welcome James Aquilone, the man behind Monstrous Publishing. The project? It’s the first graphic novel story anthology from Weird Tales.

James Aquilone is the owner of Monstrous, writer of the Dead Jack Zombie Detective series, and editor of the anthologies Creepshow: 13 Tales of Terror, Classic Monsters Unleashed, Shakespeare Unleashed, and the 50th anniversary Kolchak: The Night Stalker graphic novel. He has won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Graphic Novel and two Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards.

First published in 1923, the iconic pulp magazine Weird Tales defined the horror and fantasy genres and helped give rise to such literary giants as H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Ray Bradbury and C.L. Moore. Now, Monstrous is teaming up with Weird Tales Magazine to publish the first ever Weird Tales graphic novel. It’s a large format Kickstarter exclusive hardcover, featuring covers by Kelley Jones (Dracula, Sandman), Eric Powell (The Goon, Dr. Werthless), and Colton Worley (The Shadow, Kolchak: The Night Stalker). It’s a 150 page limited edition hardcover, featuring ten stories. It will be printed in a large format, 8.5 by 11 inches and offered in three variant covers.
