An award winning and Hugo-nominated digital literary magazine throws a fundraising party on Kickstarter, with only nine days to go.
Apex Magazine is a dark speculative fiction zine. 2025 saw their 20th anniversary and their 150th issue. An award winning digital literary magazine of science fiction, dark fantasy and horror. The magazine publishes a diverse range of authors, from different backgrounds, different perspectives, and at different points in their writing career. In a single issue of Apex, you may read a story that’s been translated from another language, an author’s first published story, as well as stories from authors who have published many stories before. The magazine celebrates and revels in the strange, surreal, shocking, and beautiful.
Apex Magazine is currently helmed by editor-in-chief Lesley Conner and managing editor Rebecca E. Treasure.
The goal of the Kickstarter is to fund four issues of Apex Magazine with an initial funding goal of $20,000, with two additional issues being unlocked through stretch goals, for a total of six issues in 2026.
Each issue consists of 20,000 words of original short fiction, monthly flash fiction selected by Rebecca E. Treasure through a themed submission call, two reprints, two essays, as well as author and cover artist interviews.
Kickstarter backers can receive perks even at percentage based milestones prior to full funding, to help incentivize contributions.
