Who will save us from the heroes? In Marvel Zombies, the Avengers are all dead, but that’s not stopping them from coming for the survivors.

The following trailer is rated TV-MA (for mature audiences), meaning it could give your kids nightmares.

Peter Parker, Bucky Barnes and a handful of second stringers have to defend New York against a sea of zombies, included among them its former greatest heroes.

Marvel Zombies started as as a five-issue limited series published from December 2005 to April 2006 by Marvel Comics. The series was written by Robert Kirkman with art by Sean Phillips and covers by Arthur Suydam. It was the first series in the Marvel Zombies series of related stories. The story is set in an alternate universe where the world’s superhero population has been infected with a virus that turned them into zombies. The series was spun out of events of the crossover story-arc of Ultimate Fantastic Four, where the zombie Reed Richards tricked his Ultimate counterpart into opening a portal to the zombie universe only for the latter to contain the former from ever coming to his universe.

The vision that strikes me is zombie Thanos with his Infinity Gauntlet. He’s got the power to recreate the universe however he likes, and he can’t unzombie himself? This I’ve gotta see.

Marvel Zombies features voices of all the live action actors we’ve come to know from the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

Florence Pugh Haliee Steinfeld David Harbour
Elizabeth Olsen Awkwafina Randall Park
Simu Liu Randall Park Dominique Thorne
Iman Vellani Wyatt Russell Paul Rudd
Tessa Thompson Hudson Thames

The only variation in the cast list is Hudson Thames as Peter Parker. He’s never played Spider-Man in live action, but he is the voice of Peter Parker in the animated Disney+ series Your Friendly Neighborshood Spider-Man.

Marvel Zombines is a four part story, streaming on Disney+ on September 24.
