Parry Gripp is one of the more reliably creative voices in filkdom, particularly in the Star Wars fandom space. Today’s bit of silly fun is a fully animated music video of Salacious Crumb. His friend Nathan Mazur created the animation, and we think it’s Nathan’s best work to date.

Salacious Crumb is a minor but memorable character in the Star Wars saga. We meet him in Jabba’s palace in Star Wars: Episode 6 Return of the Jedi (confusingly, the third Star Wars film to be released). He’s the small, cackling, monkey-lizard creature who perches at Jabba the Hutt’s side in the palace on Tatooine. His primary role is that of a court jester or pet, and he’s seen gleefully reacting to others’ misfortunes, particularly laughing hysterically at people in pain or distress.

He’s obviously a Muppet, but a grating one, and your first impulse when you see him is to want to use him for target practice.

It’s the iconic laugh that makes him so memorable—in part because it does make you want to use him for target practice.

We love this weird little song, and we think you will too.
