The wonderful thing about art is that it often inspires more art. Today’s Video of the Day is a music video, a cover of a track called Zoltraak, by an artist named Dryante, from the anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.

As is often the case with fannish things, sometimes what fascinates us is buried a couple of layers deep. Frieren is the name of an elf adventurer, an elf mage who, with her fellow adventurers have defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land. The series studies her journey in the understanding of what life means to the people around her — and Zoltraak is the word for a special kind of weaponized magic that can pierce magical shielding, and is lethally effective against demons.

With that in mind, now watch Dryante’s beautifully made music video, and you’ll be able to enjoy it in the context in which it was created. This piece is one of the more recognizable from the anime series, and well loved, and covered by a number of artists already.
