Sometimes the music is so good you can’t ignore it. Sometimes the concept grabs you. Sometimes the animation is kind of groundbreaking. When you get all three at once, you’re golden. Behold the awe, magic and mystery of master musician Tom Cardy and his Transcendental Cha Cha Cha.
As with most electroswing, the lyrics are fast, precise and furious, and tell a detailed story. When you’re delivering your performance, you have to be tight, well directed, and staggeringly creative. This new cut from Tom Cardy delivers on every level.
Witness the hapless everyman as he is sucked into The Dancefloor at the End of the Universe (the name of the album from which this cut comes). This dance club that transcends time, space and reality and Everyman has learn to cope with it, and would probably enjoy it if he could just keep his marguerita dimensionally stable.
We absolutely love the whipsaw melodic construction and the care with which the counter-rhythms and backbeat are assembled to support the main theme. In other words, it’s an ear-worm.
You can hear this cut on the SCIFI.radio stream. Now that we know about Tom Cardy, we’re going to investigate the rest of his portfolio.
The animation, by the way, was done for Tom Cardy by an animator/artist called Shoocharu, check their channel / @shoocharu
