The massive, 110-acre theme park includes world devoted to “Harry Potter,” “How to Train Your Dragon” and Universal Monsters
Universal’s Epic Universe is finally opening at the start of next summer! Universal Orlando Resort announced on Thursday that the new theme park will welcome guests on May 22, 2025.
Epic Universe is set to feature an array of immersive lands, including How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, and the monster-themed Dark Universe. It’s exciting to see how Universal is expanding its offerings, especially when comparing it to Universal Studios in Universal City, California. While Universal Studios Hollywood has recently added Super Nintendo World to its lineup, Epic Universe is taking things to a whole new level with its new attractions.
Anchoring the park is the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a 500-room Loews Hotel that boasts its own dedicated entrance into Epic Universe for hotel guests. This is like some of the perks at Universal Studios Hollywood but on an even grander scale.
Epic Universe will become Universal Orlando’s fourth theme park, joining Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and the water-themed Volcano Bay. It’s clear that Universal is trying to make Universal Orlando into a weeklong destination for visitors, much like how Universal Studios Hollywood serves as a must-visit spot in California, but with even more to explore.
Here’s how Universal Orlando describes each themed land:
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: Guests will discover a different era of the wizarding world in an all-new land that blends 1920s wizarding Paris from the “Fantastic Beasts” films with the iconic British Ministry of Magic from the “Harry Potter” series.
- Super Nintendo World: Step into the iconic green pipe and discover a new way to play as you immerse yourself in the worlds of beloved characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong.
- How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk: Soar with dragons in a colorful world filled with Viking adventures based on the wildly popular “How to Train Your Dragon” film franchise.
- Dark Universe: Encounter everything from the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein to the shadowy landscapes where monsters roam in a world of myth and mystery.
The entrance to Epic Universe is also a land unto itself. Celestial Park includes three attractions—including a roller coaster—and is filled with acres of rolling gardens, chasing waterways, and strolling pathways. It features lush living gardens nestled along shimmering waters, surrounded by stunning architecture inspired by astronomical and mythological elements.
When you compare Epic Universe to Universal Studios in Universal City, California, it’s clear that Universal is upping the ante in immersive entertainment. While Universal Studios Hollywood offers attractions like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the new Super Nintendo World, Epic Universe is taking these to the next level, combining these experiences with entirely new worlds.
Tickets for Epic Universe go on sale on October 22.
