What We Do in the Shadows, based on the feature film by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, documents the nightly exploits of vampire roommates Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their human familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), and their vampire bureaucrat acquaintance, The Guide (Kristen Schaal).
It’s easy to rattle off a pile of randomly chosen adjectives to describe a show like this. I’ll step into the danger zone, though, and describe What We Do In The Shadows as an intriguing — and damned funny — clear-eyed parody of the entire vampire horror genre and pop culture in the same stroke. Every scene in the trailer is funny, and it can’t help but be. The material almost writes itself.
What We Do in the Shadows’ sixth season premieres on FX, and streams on Hulu, starting October 21, 2024.
