Muppet rock band Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are finally recording a studio album (something their fans have been waiting for, for 48 years.). The Electric Mayhem will be getting their own series on Disney Plus, entitled Muppet Mayhem, telling the tale of their musical journey to recording their first album.
Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem made their musical debut in 1975 on The Muppet Show. Like most bands, their membership changes periodically, but the principal members of the band are Dr. Teeth (bandleader, keyboards, and vocals), Floyd Pepper (vocals and bass guitar), Zoot (saxophone), Janice (lead guitar and vocals), Animal (drums), and Lips (trumpet). They are occasionally joined by guest musicians, both human and Muppet.
Muppet Mayhem is planned as a ten-part mini-series. It is scheduled to premiere May 10, 2023 on Disney +. The show will star Canadian YouTuber and late night talk show hostess Lilly Singh as Nora as a junior record company executive who assists the Electric Mayhem in their quest to record a studio album. Tahj Mowry (T.J. Henderson on Smart Guy, Teddy in Full House) will be appearing as Gary “Moog” Moogowski, a super fan of the Electric Mayhem who will attempt to assist Nora. The show promises that in addition to old favorite Muppets, some new Muppets will be making their debut on Muppet Mayhem.
Musical guests will include Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. Other guests have not been announced yet. We hope a certain banjo-playing frog might be there to wish his old friends luck. The Muppets have always attracted big name guests, Whoopi Goldberg, Paul Williams, Bob Hope, Ethel Merman, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Hamill, among countless others.
Get ready to meet the grooviest gang in town – it’s The Muppets’ Electric Mayhem Band! Led by the charismatic Dr Teeth, these zany musicians are sure to get your toes tapping and your heart singing.
Dr Teeth himself is a musical genius, belting out tunes with his smooth voice and tickling the ivories with his nimble fingers. And let’s not forget that gold tooth – it’s the perfect accessory for this funky frontman.
Animal is the band’s resident wild child, pounding on the drums with a ferocity that’s unmatched. With his gravelly laugh and limited vocabulary, he’s a true original – we like to think he was modeled after the legendary Keith Moon. And don’t worry, he may be a bit of a loose cannon, but we’ve got him chained up during performances for your safety.
Floyd Pepper is the cool cat of the group, with a sarcastic wit and a killer bassline. He’s also in a relationship with Janice, the band’s leading lady. Speaking of Janice, she’s a guitar goddess who can also rock the tambourine, trombone, and trumpet. Her laid-back vibes and hippie-chic style make her a true standout.
Zoot is the resident saxophonist, a seasoned musician who’s seen it all. He may be a bit burnt-out, but his soulful playing still brings down the house. Lastly, there’s Lips, the trumpet player who prefers to let his music do the talking. With his silky smooth playing, he’s a true virtuoso.
Voiced by a talented cast, these Muppets are more than just characters — to us, they’ve always been real musicians with heart and soul.

Hey, that’s today!
Save your pennies. The album will likely be released via Buena Vista Records. It’s gonna be awesome.
