Great interviews come from the most unexpected places – this time SCIFI.radio’s The Event Horizon hosts Susan Fox and Gene Turnbow have the great pleasure of speaking with actress, dancer, singer, composer, producer, humanitarian and philanthropist – and surprisingly, poet – Amber Martinez.
On her return visit to the show, we get to pick her brains on one of the most opaque parts of filmmaking as far as the public is concerned: being a producer. Amber Martinez has spent nearly as much energy being a film producer as she has being an actor, and has tons of insight to offer on what she invests in, and why. This episode is a master class in how films get funded and how those decisions are made.
Amber Martinez is talented, vivacious and engaging, and is one of those people for whom the Universe is doing its damnedest to make sure that success comes their way.
Amber Martinez, was recently in Disney+ and Marvel’s “WandaVision”, with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. She also just wrapped an episode of American Horror Story Season 10. And recently shot an episode of Hulu’s Dollface Season 2 last week and attended the 2021 Festival de Cannes with full professional credentials.
Amber Martinez, has appeared in such films as “Rough Night” with Scarlett Johansson and Demi Moore, “Dead Ant” the Winner of The Screamfest LA 2017 Best Comedy Award with Sean Astin, Tom Arnold and produced by Ron Carlson. Amber’s latest film has came out this year 2021, called “Senior Entourage”, where she acts opposite Ed Asner, Mark Rydell, and Helen Reddy. Another one of her films “Back to Lyla” is currently in post-production. Her film “Jack Be Nimble” with Bai Ling, is releasing this year 2021 and her film “Bond of Justice: Kizuna” (2021), is also premiering in 2 months. She is also, in the new Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith movie, called “Madness in the Method” (2019), which was also shopped for international distribution, at the 72nd Festival du Cannes. She is also currently working on two new film projects, scheduled to be released in 2022 and 2023.
From Spring 2019 until current, she has worked on: Ron Howard’s new project “68 Whiskey”, “Dirty John: Betty Broderick”, Jessica Alba and Gabriel Union’s “L.A.’s Finest”, Showtime’s “Homeland”, “Party of Five”, “Black Monday”, “Stumptown”, “9-1-1”, “Westworld” Season 4, 3 episodes of CBS’s “Why Women Kill”, “NCIS”, Hulu and Netflix’s “Dollface” Season 1 & 2, “Atypical”, HBO’s “Euphoria”, “S.W.A.T”, Netflix’s “Happy Merry Whatever”, TNT’s “Animal Kingdom”, a promo commercial for “Coca Cola New Coke” with the cast of Stranger Things Season 3, and others.
The episode for today’s episode (Saturday October 30) of The Event Horizon with Amber Martinez airs at 4 pm Pacific / 7 pm Eastern, and airs again tomorrow at the same time.
Missed it? Here is the show in its entirety! This is really a master class in indie film production, and well worth a listen.
