Zoot, the too-cool-for-the-room saxaphone player the Muppet band Doctor Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, stars as Mister Blue Sky in this heartwarming new music video. It’s all part of a YouTube Originals special called Dear Earth. It happened on YouTube last Saturday, and included clips from Sir David Attenborough, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai, Billie Eilish, and even Ol’ Goggle Eyes himself, Kermit the Frog.

In this video, The Muppets perform the 70’s classic written by Jeff Lyne of Electric Light Orchestra, Mr. Blue Sky. It’s all part of the Dear Earth special; an epic global celebration of our planet and what we need to do to slow climate change. Sprinkled with musical performances Dear Earth also contains well-known climate activists, creators, and celebs who will all share ways to make our lives more sustainable.

Former President Barack Obama, Pope Francis, Desmond Tutu and Google/Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai are among the global leaders presenting during the multi-hour celebration of the planet. The production follows a similar format to YouTube Originals’ Dear Class of 2020 all-star commencement special during the pandemic last year, with keynote addresses, musical performances, special appearances, and comedic shorts.

It’s okay to call us geeks because we singled out the Muppets’ performance for this YouTube special.

Because of course, we are.

Enjoy.
