It’s the most wonderful time of the year – November 24 is the kickoff day for the new Marvel Studios series Hawkeye. This holiday season begins with the series on Disney+ that few fans expected would ever be made, and it looks like it’s going to be quite a thrill ride.
Disney+ and Marvel Studios invite you on an unexpected holiday getaway, unwrapping a brand-new teaser trailer and poster today for “Hawkeye,” a new series set in post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a superhero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Starring Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, “Hawkeye” also features Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. Helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie, “Hawkeye” debuts exclusively on Disney+ on November 24, 2021.
Hawkeye Loses His Hearing?
Apparently so. For those unaware, in the comics, Barton began his hearing loss journey back in 1983 when a sonic arrowhead exploded that left him predominantly deaf. Marvel Studios is apparently going to be exploring this story line, as the trailer shows him wearing a hearing aid. You can see it at the 00:26 second mark where he’s talking to his daughter Lila Barton.
Here’s a closer look:
As Marvel Studios never addressed Hawkeye’s hearing loss prior to now, Jeremey Brenner’s Barton would have to have begun his hearing loss sometime after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Reports have it that Alaqua Cox has been cast in the series as well, portraying Echo aka Maya Lopez, a deaf Native American superhero who has the talent to imitate any opponent’s fighting style. Two characters in a story sharing a common noteworthy trait is usually a strong signal that this is going to be a significant plot point.
Among the other Hawkeye cast members are Vera Farmiga ( Godzilla King of Monsters ), Florence Pugh ( Black Widow ), Fra Fee ( Les Misérables ), Tony Dalton ( Better Call Saul ), and Zahn McClarnon ( Fargo ).
The casting breakdown says that Farmiga will play Eleanor Bishop, the mother of Kate Bishop, while Dalton will play Jack Duquesne a.k.a. Swordsman. Meanwhile, Fee will portray the mercenary villain Clown.
The series makes its debut November 24, 2021 on Disney+.

I’m there! If we don’t get to see the full Avengers Broadway number, though, I shall be very sad.
