LOS ANGELES, September 27, 2016 — One of the comic book industry’s towering legends made his latest cameo at Los Angeles City Hall to receive an honor from the LA City Council. They have declared that October 28 will be officially known as Stan Lee Day. Mr. Lee said the honor made him “the luckiest man alive.”

Stan Lee Day, by unsurprising coincidence, also happens to be the opening day of his three-day celebration of comics, video games, sci-fi, fantasy, horror and pop culture.

Formerly known as “Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo,” the event will be renamed “Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con.” This is the event’s second name change since it was founded in 2013 as “Comikaze”.  The 93-year-old former president of Marvel Comics said “we want to have the most glamorous and sought-after guests possible in the entertainment field, because after all, Los Angeles to me is the home of entertainment — this is where it all starts.”

Lee is also known for making cameos in dozens of Marvel films and TV shows, and has recently film four of them, so that they’re ready for use in upcoming films. The next four films on Marvel’s release calendar are Doctor Strange on November 4, 2016, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5, 2017, Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, 2017, and Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. However, Lee could have shot his Doctor Strange cameo while the film was in production in London, meaning the extra cameo could be for either Black Panther or Avengers: Infinity War.
