Thena-coversWhat’s thousands of feet tall, filled with molten rock and goes boom?  Obvious answer: volcanoes!

Join us tonight on The Event Horizon this evening at 9PM Pacific / 12 AM Eastern as your hosts Susan Fox and Gene Turnbow speak with steampunk novelist T. E. MacArthur, author of the conjoined steampunk series The Volcano Lady and The Gaslight Adventures of Tom Turner.

Both series of books set are the same universe, telling their stories from the personal perspectives of two different characters in the alternative history Ms. MacArthur has created.  Most steampunk novels are heavily researched, but T. E. MacArthur’s female lead character Dr. Leticia Gantry has built her life around the study of volcanoes and vulcanism.  So naturally, Ms. MacArthur had to become not only an expert on the subject herself, but an expert on what was known on the topic in Victorian times as well.  It’s this depth of dedication and research that gives MacArthur’s books such a solid foundation – but far from being all about the science, her books read like what they are: rollicking steampunk adventures, full of action, romance and intrigue, but always staying true to the Victorian sociological milieu.  Letty Gantry is always a Victorian woman, not just a modern day girl in a bustle.

Book 3 in the Gaslight Adventurs of Tom Turner is almost ready.  Now we can finally find out how (or if) Tom Turner figures a way out of that mineshaft!  You can order your copy of The Gaslight Adventures of Tom Turner: Volume 3 through Amazon, Kindle, and Smashwords on or perhaps before Thanksgiving (Nov 28th).

T. E. MacArthur is an author, artist, and historian living in the San Francisco Bay Area with her constant companion, Mac the cat. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in History from Cal State University and spent many an evening in subsequent Anthropology, Geology, Criminal Investigation and Art classes. Writing remains, however, her passion.

Tune in again tomorrow, Sunday, November 17 at 4PM Pacific / 7PM Eastern to hear the show on rebroadcast if you miss it this evening.
