Earth discovers a portal to a dimension filled with sentient vegetables who are friendly but incomprehensible even though they have seen every episode of Firefly who derive their sustainance by a crowd of people with pitchforks and torches but a priest tells them about the God and they are taken in by a kindly old lady who mistakes them for lost children.
