Apple TV put on a record-breaking drone light show in the skies over Los Angeles this past weekend to promote the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The 12-minute spectacular involved 3,000 drones, flying up to 500 feet (152 meters) in the area, and covering an area the equivalent of three American football pitches, according to details released by Apple TV.
The drones carried on-board illumination, coordinated by computer and accented with fireworks, to depict the giant monsters from the show: Godzilla, King Kong, and Titan X. Titan X is set to be the main antagonist of the second season of the show. It was enough to claim a world record as officially the tallest aerial display of a fictional character formed by drones ever, beating out Marvel’s Wolverine display from 2024.
Some of the stars of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters were on hand to watch the demonstration, organized by creative agency Heads in the Sky, and Kurt Russell definitely seemed impressed by what he was seeing.
The Apple TV show made its debut in 2023. The Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 premiere on Friday, February 27 2026 will be the first of 10 episodes airing on Apple TV through to May.
