This one is aimed more for people who work in the publishing industry, either as writers, editors, agents or booksellers. That said, that apparently includes a surprising number of listeners and readers of the SCIFI.radio web site.

New York, NY (February 3, 2026) – Penguin Random House Publisher Services (PRHPS), a divis0ion of leading global trade book publisher Penguin Random House, today announced a multi-year worldwide sales and distribution agreement with Oni Press, the multiple Eisner and Harvey Award-winning publisher of groundbreaking comic books and graphic novels, beginning on August 1, 2026.

Oni Press is the publisher of a surprising spectrum of some of the best comics and animation out there right now, including Rick and Morty, Scott PilgrimEC ComicsAdventure TimeMurder DronesSixth Gun and more. They used to use Lunar Distribution for the direct market, and Simon & Schuster for bookstores. Now they’re going to be letting Penguin Random House handle both vectors, following Marvel, Dark Horse, Boom, IDW, Dstlry, Ignition, TokyoPop, Webtoon, and Kodansha in their mutual selection of the publishing and distribution juggernaut as a replacement for the horrific cataclysmic smoking crater that Diamond Comics became.

The new partnership starts on August 1, 2026, and includes Oni Press’ Magnetic Press graphic novel imprint. Lunar’s catalog is thus diminished, with Notably, this will leave DC Comics, Image, Mad Cave, Titan and Dynamite as Lunar’s remaining major publishers in the direct market.

Oni Press will also be available to stores via Universal Distribution and Diamond UK

They’re framing this as a marketing advancement for Oni’s upcoming summer slate. This will include the upcoming launches of New York Times best-selling creator Matt Kindt‘s Flux House imprint (with new titles including Mind MGMT: New & Improved and Fort Psycho) and its anticipated slate of new Archie Comics titles with creators including W. Maxwell PrinceFábio MoonNick CagnettiCorinna BechkoKanoPatrick Horvath, and Tyler Crook.

Under the agreement, PRHPS will sell and distribute Oni Press’ frontlist and backlist trade books, as well as single issue comics, for Oni Press and the company’s Magnetic Press imprint exclusively across all sales channels worldwide. The new distribution deal will immediately precede two of Oni’s most anticipated publishing launches for the coming year – beginning in August with Fort Psycho#1, the first issue of the new tentpole series for New York Times best-selling writer Matt Kindt’s Flux House imprint, written by Kindt (BRZRKR, Mind MGMT) and illustrated by co-creator Brian Hurtt (The Sixth Gun).

The marketing push will continue in September with Archie#1 – kicking off the recently announced, highly publicized partnership betweenOni Press and Archie Comics that will begin with a new ongoing series for the all-American icon from Eisner Award-nominated writer W. Maxwell Prince (Ice Cream Man) and Eisner Award-winning artist Fábio Moon (Daytripper).

Oni Press has been in this business for nearly three decades, winning awards with their catalog and celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2027, and they’re planning to stick around for the long haul.

“For nearly three decades, it’s been the mission of Oni Press to bring distinctly original, visually inspired, and creator-driven comics and graphics novels to readers wherever they can be found,” said Oni Press President & Publisher Hunter Gorinson. “Now, as we prepare to kick off a banner year in 2026 and celebrate Oni’s 30th anniversary in 2027, we’re proud to cement a new partnership with the world’s number-one book distributor of books and comics – one that will ensure our creators’ work reaches the largest possible audience and creates even more fans and supporters for the comics medium in comic shops and bookstores around the world for even more decades yet to come.”

Founded in 1997,Oni Press has built a reputation as one of the 21st century’s most acclaimed and influential independent publishers of comic books and graphic novels. They’ve also formalized integration with its sister publisher Magnetic Press, which will continue to expand its roster of Eisner Award-winning graphic novels from around the world as a standalone imprint under the Oni umbrella.
