The rumor is confirmed.

It’s been rumored for a while, but CBS has officially confirmed a sequel to Big Bang Theory. Big Bang Theory was a sitcom that aired from September 24, 2007, to May 16, 2019. It was about four scientists and engineers with Geeky, nerdish interests who found “normal” mundane society difficult to deal with.

Big Bang Theory already has one spin-off, the prequel Young Sheldon, which deals with Dr. Sheldon Cooper as a boy. I personally did not find it amusing, as it seemed to be mostly geared to making fun of GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) students and laughing at, not with the socially awkward. Other people disagreed, as it has a 76% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Young Sheldon has a spin-off of its own, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, The new spin-off Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will be on HBOMax. It will feature Kevin Sussman as comic book store owner Stuart,Bloom who was a supporting character on Big Bang Theory. Dr. Sheldon Cooper, Dr. Ramayan “Raj” Koothrappali,, Howard J. Wolowitz, and Leonard Hofstadter are among Stuart’s best cuastomers. It is probanle that some of these characters, portrayed by their original actors, will be guests on Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.

What’s It About?

Variety reported “Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Sussman) is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Posehn), and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (Bowie). Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well.”

“I wanted to do something radical that would take me out of my comfort zone. Something the characters on ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ would have loved, hated, and argued about,”[Chuck] Lorre said.
