Based on the award-winning, best-selling series by Martha Wells, Murderbot follows a rogue security unit as it searches for the meaning of life.
In a high-tech future, a rogue security robot (Alexander Skarsgård) secretly gains free will. To stay hidden, it reluctantly joins a new mission protecting scientists on a dangerous planet…even though it just wants to binge soap operas.

Murderbot is based on a series of novellas called The Murderbot Diaries by American author Martha Wells. The first in the series was All Systems Red, published by Tor.com in 2017.
The series is about a cyborg designed to protect humans on a research mission. The cyborg narrates the story (hence, “diary”) and calls itself “Murderbot”. It has developed independence from its original programming by overriding its “governor unit” and prefers watching soap operas over its security function. As it spends more time with some caring humans, it starts developing emotions that make it feel uncomfortable.
Murderbot premieres May 16 on Apple TV+ https://apple.co/_Murderbot
