The longest running science fiction fan convention in Los Angeles is celebrating it’s 50th year! The convention is operated by LASFS, the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, and is set to take place November 29 through December 1, 2024, at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel, after decades at the Airport Marriot.

The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, founded Oct. 27, 1934, is the world’s oldest continuously active science-fiction and fantasy club. Comprised of both old and young fans alike, it has grown from its humble beginnings as a tiny literary discussion club into a lively social group of science fiction and fantasy fandom readers, writers, cosplayers and in some instances, professionals in the literary, movie and television industries. Many of their members both run and volunteer at the annual West Coast Science Fantasy Conference (Westercon) and Loscon – the Los Angeles Regional Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention. These two long-running conventions are anticipated year, providing a place to hold science fiction, fantasy and genre art shows, charity fundraisers, blood drives and the renewing of fannish friendships of all types.

Attendees to the three day convention will enjoy a variety of fun sci-fi and fantasy related activities.Loscon is excited to welcome attendees to our three day weekend of Science Fiction and Fantasy fun. We celebrate Larry Niven as our Writer Guest of Honor, Kathy Mar our Musical Guest of Honor, Dr Laura Brodian Freas Beraha our Artist Guest of Honor and the late Kelly Freas as our Artist Ghost of Honor and our Fan Guests of Honor, Genny Dazzo and Craig Miller.

Loscon is thrilled to share several special events happening during the Loscon 50 weekend.

• The Maker Room coordinated by Gene Turnbow of SCIFI.radio, and will include the Costume Repair Station, headed by Maria
• A Star Wars Film Festival hosted by Shawn Crosby “Obi-Shawn” of the 501st Legion.
• An escape room, “The Haunting Of Silverwood Manor – A Wild West Ghost Story” hosted by Long Beach Geeks.
• Cosplay Costume Contest for all ages presented by Nerd Mafia.
• The “Veins of Gold” annual Blood Drive for the American Red Crosss.
• A Tea Party honoring the late Fuzzy Pink Niven hosted by Fan Guest of Honor, Genny Dazzo.
• Loscon also hosts writers and science panels, an ice cream social, regency dance, film screenings, music, art show and dealers room during our three day weekend event.

Loscon is held at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport near Los Angeles International Airport. Weekend memberships are currently available at discounted rates.
