Here’s an early look at an upcoming family film, Monster Summer.
When a mysterious force begins to disrupt their big summer fun, Noah and his friends team up with a retired police detective to embark on a monstrous adventure to save their island.
Set to be released this fall, Monster Summer is a fantasy adventure mystery film starring Mason Thames (The Black Phone), Lorraine Bracco (Rizzoli And Isles), and Mel Gibson (The Original Mad Max), about a group of friends who find themselves fighting for their lives as a mysterious entity is stalking the kids of Martha’s Vineyard.
The film is produced by Mark Frasano and James Henrie, along with John Blanford, and Dan McDonough. Tobias Weymar, Annie Mahoney, Lorenzo Henrie, and Amanda Devine are acting as executive producers. The script was written by Cornelius Uliano (The Peanuts Movie) and Brian Schulz (Grandson of Peanuts creator, Charles M. Schulz), and directed by David Henrie (Wizards Of Waverly Place). When the film was first announced, under the title, Boys Of Summer, David Henrie described the film as such: “Historically, fairy tales used monsters to personify our deepest fears while empowering young people to overcome them. Now more than ever, we need narratives that inspire courage in the face of darkness. ‘Boys of Summer’ is a throwback story that conjures up the magic and nostalgia of childhood as its heroes fight monsters old and new.”
The film also features Noah Cottrell (Roku’s Spiderwick Chronicles), Abby James Whitherspoon (Secret Headquarters), Julien Lerner (The Wonder Years reboot), and also features appearances by Kevin James and Patrick Renna (The Sandlot) as the umpire.
Hopefully, this film lives up to some of the expectations that the trailer presents. We may be in for a real treat this fall.
Monster Summer will arrive in theaters on October 4, 2024
