The plumber boys are back for one final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie before the film’s release on April 5, 2023.
A leaping plumber named Mario from a magical kingdom filled with mushroom people, rolling hills and floating blocks becomes human in modern-day Boston, gains a big belly. Along with his sidekicks, Toad, his brother Luigi, and a rather kick-ass Princess Peach, he goes on an adventure to save the universe.
Its heritage is a bit complex. According to the movie’s own IMDB page, it’s a “feature adaptation of the fan fiction of the 1992 unlicensed 2 season miniseries based on the licensed 3 season miniseries based on the popular video game series.”
Frankly, to me it looks like the filmmakers have studied Mario and his crew so well that this whole film is a tour of the Nintendo Super Mario franchise, and there will details in it to satisfy even the most hardcore fan.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, written by Matthew Fogel, and stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach.
