Adam Driver is an award-winning American actor, best known to SciFi.Radio fans for playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars movies The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. He was born November 19, 1983 in San Diego, CA, which makes today his 38th birthday.
His story is one of challenge and achievement as an actor, and he has become part of the Star Wars legend, playing Han Solo and Leia Organa’s son Ben, who later became Kylo Ren.
Although Kylo Ren was a poor commander, whose men regarded him not as a mighty Sith Lord, but a petulant child, prone to temper tantrums. In real life, Adam Driver was a proud veteran who served honorably in the U,S. Marines, He served two years before being medically discharged after an injury that prevented him from being deployed.
His time in the Marines made a deep mark on Driver, He founded Arts in the Armed Forces, a nonprofit organization that stages theatrical performances for military personnel in all branches of the service.
Since then, Adam Driver has been busy as an actor. He has performed on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in 2019 for his performance in Burn This. Adam Driver has been nominated four times for an Emmy Award, but he has yet to win one. (He’s only 38. He has plenty of time yet.) Three times he received an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the HBO series Girls, He was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for being a guest host on Saturday Night Live.
One of Adam Driver’s most respected roles was as Detective Philip “Flip” Zimmerman in Spike Lee’s BlackkKlansman, Driver was nominated for several awards for that role including the Oscar, the BAFTA, and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.
Driver also received an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in Marriage Story(2019), which co-starred M*A*S*H’s Alan Alda and the MCU’s Scarlett Johansson.
Driver won the prestigious Vlpi Cup for Best Actor for his role in Hungry Hearts(2014) and again in Paterson (2016).
He will be appearing in House of Gucci, which is due to be released November 24, 2021.
He is married to actress Joanne Tucker (Pam Novick, American Rust). They have one son together.
