Tricorders are devices used, among other things, to determine what ails a patient. Yeah, it is a pretty wild notion that one single device can do such a thing. There have even been applications previously on the market resembling a tricorder on your very own smart phone! Though once an organization by the name of CBS, found out it was not associated to Star Trek itself, it was discontinued on the Android market. There are still a couple of applications mimicking it for the iPhone and other such devices today, but they prove to not be as functional.

The Universal Translator problem may be going away very soon. Frank Soong and Rick Rashidof Microsoft are hard at work prototyping the real thing. Technology Review reports that research scientist Frank Soong demonstrated the software at Microsoft’s Redmond, Washington campus on Tuesday.

Never Filmed Lost Star Trek Script Found After 45 Years

A script written for the original Star Trek television series by famed science fiction writer Norman Spinrad has resurfaced after 45 years. Entitled “He Walked Among Us”, it was to have been a vehicle for a serious role for the late Milton Berle before Spinrad himself had it scuttled in 1967. Spinrad had written one other Trek script, the fan-favorite episode “The Doomsday Machine”.
