D23 is winding down this weekend. It is the Walt Disney Company's semi-annual fan service convention, held in Anaheim, California. Apart from just being a fun fan experience, it is also typically where they announce new series and projects, and treat fans to special performances by Disney motion picture alumni. Directors, actors, writers, you name it, it's all there. Of course, every time they have one, a bunch of trailers are presented there, and drop for the rest of us during that weekend. Have we got a round-up for you! Teaser: Percy Jackson and the Olympians https://www.youtube.com/watch?vY3gF6Duh_z0 This teaser gives us a taste of the new Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on the books by Rick Riordan. Unhappy with the theatrical adaptaions of his work, Riordan is this time intimately involved in the produciton of the Disney+ series and is vastly happier with it. By reports, the series is much much closer to the original source material, with which extreme liberties were taken in the feature films from the previous decade. Percy Jackson and the Olympians, with Walker Scobell in the title role, doesn't premiere on Disney+ until 2024. There is, as of yet, no firm release date. Willow https://www.youtube.com/watch?vda7BYWyvwO8 The 1988 Ron Howard fantasy masterpiece Willow is getting the series treatment too. It's a timeless adventure of magic, comedy and mayhem with a solid true heart, telling the story of a halfling named Willow who becomes a wizard in spite of himself. The babe he's trying to save from a horrible fate is Elora Dannen, the girl who is destined to bring down the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda. Amazingly, 34 years later, Warwick Davis looks fantastic and not that much different than he did back then. If they were going to do a Willow TV series or a much discussed movie sequel, it was going to have to be soon. Disney stepped up, and it looks like it's going to be worth the wait. Willow makes its first season debut on November 30, 2022. Marvel's Studio's Secret Invasion | Official Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?vqZVTkn2NjS0 You know that thing in the Captain Marvel movie where the Skrull were the victims of the Kree and not the bad guys everybody assumed they were? Well, apparently at least some of the Skrull really were the bad guys all along. Only Nick Fury stands between the Skrull and their objectives. Samuel L. Jackson headlines the new Marvel series, set to debut on Disney+ sometime in 2023. Tales of the Jedi | Official Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v-uRRKqQbmw4 From the Lucasfilm animation studios comes Tales of the Jedi comes two stories of fate with a single destiny. The stories involve Anakin Skywalker, following his decent into becoming Darth Vader, Count Dooku's misguided quest to unify the Republic, , All six original shorts stream October 26. Presumably because they're shorts, they'll be all available at once. The Mandalorian, Season 3 Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?vhjH6L307lIA After having taken a pass on Luke Skywalker's offer of Jedi training at the end of Season 2, Grogu (colloquially referred to as "Baby Yoda", though it turned out later that he was the same species but not the same individual) returns to travels with his favorite humanoid, Din Djarin. Djarin has previously admitted to the head of his Mandalorian cult that he has removed his helmet in the presence of others, and has been cast out of the order. Yet, as the new ownder of the Darksaber, he faces additional challenges. He doesn't want the Darksaber or its responsibilities, and Bo Katan would rather have it. However, Mandalorean custom demands that he lose it in battle to her or she cannot take it. Din Djarin, in his quest for redemption, will necessarily have to face the other Mandalorian clans if he intends to lead his people to the reconquest of Mandalore. Even wielding the Darksaber, Djarin will likely not be recognized by everyone as the lord of Mandalore, especially the followers of Bo-Katan. The series, starring Pedro Pascal, begins streaming in 2023, with no firm release date as of this moment. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Mid-Season Sneak Peek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v1FdQblg-kQU The fourth wall breaking, gamma radiation fueld female empowerment series She-Hulk is currently the hottest ticket on Disney+. There's something for everybody. It has action, comedy, pathos and romance, and plenty of stuff to make the gatekeepers and incels scream and tear their hair out. Tatiana Maslany brings the thunder as Jen Walters, a.k.a. She-Hulk — who now must fight for control over her own name against a superpowered social influencer Titania. Guest characters are all over this show. Charlie Cox guests as Daredevil (who is getting his own rebooted series), Tim Roth as Abomination, Benedict Wong as Wong, the current Sorceror Supreme, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Smart Hulk, and Nikki Gonzaga as Jen Walter's paralegal, Nikki Ramos. She-Hulk, Attorney at Law is streaming weekly on Disney+ with new episodes every Thursday. The Little Mermaid | Official Teaser https://www.youtube.com/watch?v0-wPm99PF9U The live action remake of The Little Mermaid gets a teaser too, and the well-known Disney mastery of sumptuous visuals and technical mastery is evident in every frame. Halle Bailey plays the title role, and Melissa McCarthy serves as her malevolent counterpoint, the sea witch Ursula. Purportedly this version of Ariel is not so focused on depending on a man to make her happy, which is quite the departure from the original Hans Christian Andersen story — but then, so was the storyline for the Disney animated feature from 1989 that almost single-handedly rescued the Disney Animation Studio from oblivion. Let's see what this new retelling of the story has to offer. The Little Mermaid is expected out on Disney+ on May 23, 2023. Hocus Pocus 2 | Official Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?vidc0EOmKr30 Fans have been asking about this one for decades, and it's finally here. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reunite for the highly anticipated Disney+ Original Movie “Hocus Pocus 2.” The live-action, long awaited sequel to the perennial Halloween classic, which brings back the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters for more comedic mayhem, will debut on Disney+ on September 30. It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Andor | Official Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?vPboKpnin_Wg Every rebellion has its beginnings, and in Andor, the new Star Wars series from Disney+, we get to see how it all began. Mon Mothma figures prominently, and we get to see just exactly how much she had to do with the movement to liberate the worlds of the Empire from its tyrannical rule. Cassian Andor becomes a reluctant hero in this prequel story, with the title role played by Diego Luna. The three-eipsode premere streams September 21, only on Disney+. Indiana Jones 5 | Teaser This teaser/trailer was shown behind closed doors at D23, but hasn't surfaced yet. As soon as we get our hands on it, we'll show it to you in an upcoming article. And That's Everything So Far Disney, as you can see, has been very very busy. It's going to be an exciting fall season for both television and motion pictures, and we're looking forward to seeing all these new series and theatrical releases. And that's not even counting all the Disney games trailers. Our biggest problem now is, with so much to choose from, finding all the time it'll take to watch everything.
