Every year there's some amazing movie released just in time for Halloween. This year it's The Book of Life. Producer Guillermo del Toro and director Jorge Gutierrez team up to produce this stylish animated comedy. ReelFX is the animation house doing the actual work. They're the same company that released Free Birds last year. If the design looks a little familiar, Jorge Gutierrez is the same director who did the animated TV series El Tigre. The Book of Life is the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. The design is conscious, a bit avant garde, and very Dio de los Muertos. We like what we see so far. The Book of Life stars Diego Luna, Channing Tatum and Zoe Saldana, and comes to theaters October 17, 2014. - 30 -
