Earth opens a gateway to the afterlife, allowing spirits to roam the earth who want to plug us into a power grid and use us as living batteries even though they have seen every episode of Firefly and might be overpowered by a crowd of people with pitchforks and torches , but scientists create a new weapon which does not work but they die from catching the common cold.
