On the heels of James Gunn’s Superman, comes Supergirl, with Millie Alcock in the title role. Watch the trailer.

This isn’t the story of a home-grown farm boy who grows up with superpowers and believes in truth, justice and a brighter future for everyone. Kara Zor-El lost her homeworld as an adult. She’s an outcast, a superpowered being with a lot of reasons to be cynical about life. She goes to planets with red suns just so she can party and get roaring drunk. All that comes to a test in this new film, the first outing for the character since the 1984 film with Helen Slater as the Girl of Steel.

Supergirl, DC Studios’ newest feature film to hit the big screen, will be in theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures, starring Milly Alcock in the dual role of Supergirl/Kara Zor-El.

Craig Gillespie directs the film from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.

When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.

Set to premiere June 26, 2026, Supergirl also stars Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze.

Based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Bilquis Evely illustrated, Ana Nogueira adapted the comic book for the big screen. In the comic, Supergirl and young alien girl Knolle travel across the galaxy to hunt Krem of the Yellow Hill after he kills Knolle’s father in cold blood.

The “unexpected adversary” may be Jason Mamoa, appearing as Lobo, in the role we think he was born to play.

DC Studios heads Peter Safran and James Gunn are producing the film, which is based on characters from DC, Supergirl based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film is executive produced by Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars P. Winther. Behind the camera, Gillespie is joined by director of photography Rob Hardy, production designer Neil Lamont, editor Tatiana S. Riegel, costume designer Anna B. Sheppard, Visual Effects Supervisor Geoffrey Baumann, and composer Ramin Djawadi.
