Director James Gunn introduces this trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, telling us we’ve all been waiting a long time for it. He’s not wrong.
Set after the events of The Suicide Squad (2021), Peacemaker (Christopher Smith as played by John Cena) returns home after recovering from his encounter with Bloodsport – only to discover that his freedom comes at a price.
In this new season, it is revealed that Chris has a portal to another dimension, a parallel world almost exactly like this one—but better. He’s met his alternate world self. He’s worn his clothes. His driven his bike. And he wants to stay there, where he’s not considered to be a joke of a superhero.
The trouble is that he can’t outrun what he’s done and who he is, and there are some bad men after him, apparently regardless of which universe he inhabits.
Peacemaker has been nominated for 22 awards, including an Emmy. The new season hits HBO Max on August 21, 2025.
