Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination, finds himself on a cosmic misadventure where he must form new bonds with alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions and somehow discover who he is truly meant to be. He gets there by becoming the ambassador from Earth to a galactic civilization, entirely by accident.

With a strong central characters, high stakes and an unlikely friendship, Elio still tells a personal, somehow relatable story, and feels like a breath of fresh air from Disney*Pixar.
Directed by Adrian Molina, Madeline Sharafian and Domee Shi, from a script by Julia Cho, Mark Hammer and Mike Jones, and with a musical score by Rob Simonsen, Elio stars Yonas Kribreab, Zoe Saldana and Brad Garret.
This is Adrian Molina’s first Pixar film as the main director, having previously been the co-director of 2017’s Coco. It’s Pixar’s third science fiction film, the first two being Wall-E (2008) and Lightyear (2022), and the first to have aliens that aren’t just space animals.
The film was originally set to release on March 1, 2024, but due to the impact of the actor’s strike on voice recording, the film’s release date had to be set back to June 20, 2025.
