This season follows the pair on an epic quest to get Belinda back to Earth, but they may have to take the long way round. A mysterious force is stopping their return and the Doctor and a companion or two must face great dangers, ferocious enemies and wilder terrors than ever before.

Ncuti Gatwa’s voice comes over the action: “There are forces beyond this universe. We think we are so clever, but we are like children. And when these vast creatures look down on us, our entire reality is in danger.”

One such force is the villainous cartoon Mr. Ring-a-Ding (voiced by Alan Cumming), who is shown climbing out of a movie theater screen. Talk about breaking the fourth wall.

In the meantime, The Doctor and Belinda get tickets to the Interstellar Song Contest. Think Britain’s Got Talent, but in space, featuring a cameo from the Eurovision’s commentator Rylan Clark.

Season 2 also features the return of Millie Gibson as The Doctor’s previous companion Ruby Sunday, as well as appearances from Anita Dobson, Bonnie Langford, Jemma Redgrave, Caoilfhionn Dunne, Christopher Chung, Evelyn Miller, Ariyon Bakare, Julie Dray and Jonah Hauer-King.

The new season of Doctor Who premieres April 12 on BBC and BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere.

Doctor Who is produced by Bad Wolf with BBC Studios for the BBC and Disney Branded Television.
