The list of nominees for the 97th Annual Academy Awards is here, and there are a few of particular interest to the geeking world.
The 97th Academy Awards ceremony will take place this year at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, honoring movies released in 2024
In particular, the movies Wicked, The Substance, Flow, Nosferatu, Memoirs of a Snail, the unimaginatively titled but beautifully made Inside Out 2 from Pixar, the surprisingly wonderful Dreamwords film The Wild Robot, and Aardman Studio’s Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl fly the geek flag this year.
Actors and actresses for whom we have special affection for their participation in major geeky franchises include Timothée Chalamet (for his roles in the two Dune movies and Wonka, Sebastian Stan (for his role as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Comics Avengers movies), Edward Norton (for his role as The Incredible Hulk), and Felicity Jones (for Star Wars: Rogue One).
