From the same team that brought us X-Men ’97 comes this new trailer for the new Spider-Man animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
It’s early, early days for Peter Parker. Before he got all cosmic in the Secret War, Peter Parker was this: a sixteen year old whiz-kid who got bitten by a radioactive spider, and now has superpowers that he’s not quite sure what to do with. He doesn’t even have his full uniform yet, and he’s trying to figure out this whole superhero thing on his own.
The voice casting is fantastic, and a lot of these voices are actors reprising their live-action roles. In just the first episode, Charlie Cox appears as Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio portrays the Kingpin. The other actors are Hudson Thames as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, Kari Wahlgren as Aunt May, Hugh Dancy as Otto Octavius, Colman Domingo as Norman Osborne, and Zeno Robinson as Harry Osborn. The series executive producers are Kevin Feige, Jeff Trammell and Brad Winderbaum, with Jeff Trammel as head writer.
Marvel Animation’s all-new series #YourFriendlyNeighborhoodSpiderMan, begins streaming January 29 on @DisneyPlus.
In addition to Peter Parker (Spider-Man) being well done from the beginning, I think there’s one primary reason it became so popular. That’s in spite of its major competition. Some comic book readers could relate a little to Clark Kent (Superman). They could probably relate less to Bruce Wayne (Batman), although sidekick Dick Grayson (Robin) might be close.
But the lonely, shy teenage nerd Peter Parker? I think a lot of readers reacted with, “Hey, that’s me!”
