Sometimes the day just goes by while you are thinking about something else, and sometimes that’s okay. Rebecca Sugar enshrines this experience in a delightful original song and animation.

The song, Good Morning Afternoon, is part of an EP called Spiral Bound, written and performed by Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe. It is fresh, and clean, unsullied and unhurried. It makes a nice pallete cleanser and a return to innocence after years of horrific things happening in the news and all the grit and worry that the world has been offering up lately.

The whimsical animation was done by Takafumi Hori. Takafumi Hori (???) is a Japanese animator and member of the animation studio known as Trigger. He is a friend of the show’s crew and was featured as a guest animator for the episode “Mindful Education” and the opening to Steven Universe Future. He was also an additional animator for Steven Universe: The Movie.

The Lyrics

Good morning afternoon
Good morning afternoon,
I didn’t think that I’d be
Seeing you so soon

Wasn’t it just eleven
Half a minute ago?
I thought the day was moving slow
I thought the day was moving

Wasn’t it just eleven
Half a minute ago?
I thought the day was moving slow

Good morning afternoon
Good morning afternoon
I didn’t think that I’d be
Seeing you so soon

Wasn’t it just eleven
Half a minute ago
I thought the day was moving slow
I thought the day was moving slow,

Just eleven,
Half a minute ago,
I thought the day was moving
Slow
