All three of them go by the name Marvel, or they have in the comic books.

Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers is back from her mission in deep space, in possession of powers imbued in her by direct exposure to the energies in the Tesseract, the cube-shaped vessel for the Space Stone.

Monica Rambeau got her light energy manipulation powers by passing through a magical reality bending field created by the Scarlet Witch one too many times (in the comics, it was .Monica Rambeau got her powers in the comics due to an accident with an energy disruptor machine that bombarded her with extra-dimensional energy. In the comics she too was called Captain Marvel for a while, then changed her code name to Spectrum.)

Kamala Kahn goes by the monicker of Ms. Marvel, and she gets her ability to make solid objects from light through her genetically coded gauntlets that only she can operate (in the comics, she gets them from exposure to the Terragen mists which activate her mutant genes, and has stretching and morphing powers).

All three of them have had their powers quantum entangled, and each time they use them they switch places by an assailant named Dar-Benn, who claims that Captain Marvel took everything away from her. She’s back to return the favor.

Starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Kamala Kahn / Ms. Marvel Tyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn, The Marvels makes its big screen debut on November 10, 2023, directed by Nia Decosta, from a script by Decosta, Elissa Karasik, Megan McDonnel and Zeb Wells. Music is by Laura Karpman, and the producer is Kevin Feige.
