The story began with an aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness. Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.
Warwick Davis and Erin Kellyman both starred in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Davis as Weazel and Kellyman as Enfys Nest. The movie was directed by Ron Howard, who directed the original ‘Willow’ film.
The series is directed by Stephen Woolfenden, Jamie Childs, Philippa Lowthorpe and Debs Paterson, each of whom took two of the eight episodes for the first season. The producers feature Ron Howard, Kathleen Kennedy, and Jonathan Kasdan among others. The music is being written by James Newton Howard and Xander Rodzinski.
The new Willow series will takes place 20-30 years after the movie.
The original Willow hit movie theaters in 1988, but Lucas conceived of his fantasy adventure in the early ’70s, and chose Davis — who had appeared in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi as an Ewok — to be his leading man.
