Ewan MacGregor graces the screen in the eagerly awaited Disney+ exclusive series Obi-Wan Kenobi, telling the story of what happened between the fall of the Republic and the beginnings of the Rebellion that finally took down the Empire. Obi-Wan Kenobi tasks himself with the protection of a new hope: Luke Skywalker.
Fans have been waiting for this for a very long time. The story of how Luke Skywalker came to be under the tutelage of Old Ben Kenobi, who lived out beyond the Dune Sea on the planet of Tatooine is about to become a new series on Disney+. Everything about this teaser feels right. The John Williams musical score is there. The look and feel of the original film is so closely bonded to this new series that it feels like coming home after being away for 45 years.
“The key to hunting Jedi,” proclaims a voice whom we presume to be the Emperor, “is patience. Jedi cannot help what they are. Their compassion leaves a trail. The Jedi code is like an itch. He cannot help it! Where is he?”
Hayden Christensen returns to the franchise in the role of a newly minted Darth Vader in this series, and we can hardly wait to see how this unfolds.
In the last moments of the trailer, as the music reaches a crescendo, we hear the rasped breathing of Lord Vader himself.
With Deborah Chow directing and John Williams himself providing the score, Obi-Wan Kenobi streams on Disney+ starting Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
