Musical mashups are fun, and SCIFI.radio plays a lot of them, but Fabrice Mathieu takes the mashup concept to a whole new level with his cinema mashup fan films. Today’s Video of the Day is his TS2 Terminators 2: Primary Targets. In his new Terminators mashup, the story is set after James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day:

“After the destruction of the T-1000, Sarah and John changed their identities and began a new life. But, the T-800s are back to eliminate them. This time, the Connors are on their own.”

James Cameron’s Terminator films have, for better or worse, become a staple of the sci-fi action genre since The Terminator came out in 1984.

As with previous Mathieu mashups, elements are lifted from the original films in which they appeared, and recomposited to form new scenes. It’s ostensibly a new art form, of which Mathieu is the new master. It takes real cinematic sensibility and artistry to make something like this work, and the results are, if a bit cerebral sometimes, quite astonishing.

Be sure to check out Fabrice Mathieu’s other works here on SCIFI.radio. They’re all equally remarkable.
