Sir Patrick Stewart is back as Jean-Luc Picard in the new Paramount+ trailer for season two of the Star Trek:Picard television series.
The Star Trek: Picard television series relies on a new mystery to solve with each new season, and this time mysteries abound. Where are the people who manage Jean-Luc’s vineyard? Why does Seven of Nine (played by Jeri Ryan) wake up one morning completely clean of Borg implant technology? And what does John De Lancie’s Q have to do with all this?
In the trailer, Q delivers a great line:
Welcome, my friend, to the very end of the road not taken.
There’s little to suggest that much of what we are about to see in the new season of Picard is free of the influence of the mischievous Q. In fact, far from it. That, however, is as clueful as we get in this first full trailer, apart from some quick cuts of various characters from the previous season, including Isa Briones as the android Soji, Alison Pill as Dr. Agnes Jurati, and Santiago Cabrera as Cristobal Rios.
We are a long way out from the 2022 season 2 premiere of Picard, so as yet there is no release date, but we can assume the ten episode season make its debut sometime in January.
Sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that CBS All Access also gave an early order for Star Trek: Picard season 3 and that the plan is to film it back-to-back with season 2. If that is the case, the wait for season 3 may be much shorter!
